Register Image

Produces the World File that positions your image on the map.
Pull the image into the View.
Identify points on the image and matching points on the map.
Within ArcView, the image can only be shifted and scaled indepently in the X and Y directions.
Register Image uses a least squares fit algorithm to find the best values for the shifts and scales for the image.
The algorithm needs at least two points, but will process any number.
The residual error for each point (the distance between where you'd like the point transferred and where it will be transferred) is shown.
Points with large residual errors can be removed from the calculations for better fits.
